  • With a floating, ribbon-like canopy, the Coburg loading park creates an urban setting and landscape zoning for the competition site. Following the topography, the transparent roofing forms an internal green-blue oasis, which is surrounded by a park-like landscape. With regard to the different target groups of the loading park, this spatial organisation enables a differentiated offer between an intensive experience of nature and opportunities for playful and sporting activities. On its eastern flank, the ribbon is set in motion by the radial arrangement of the electric charging points and integrates the “service block” as an elevated ring-shaped building into the contour of the canopy. Floating above the landscape, the KAESER charging park’s architectural expression of efficiency and emotion becomes a visible symbol and expression of the company’s own identity.

The floating ribbon is characterised by its wooden structure and has a transparent glass covering with solar modules in the area of the loading bays.
The curved roof contour forms an identity-forming architecture whose modular structure takes into account different construction phases. When completed, the structure offers the opportunity to spatially define the green-blue centre and create an attractive attraction for the neighbouring recreational area in addition to the shop theme.
The barn located in the neighbourhood of the Hessenhof will be renovated and integrated into the roof contour.

The design of the charging station as a continuous open element enables a clear zoning of the interior and exterior, so that two different open spaces can be designed – the charging station is deliberately designed as a transparent connecting element and not as separating architecture. The different open spaces offer different atmospheres and activity options to meet the diverse needs of the users. From quiet retreats to active play and sports areas, there is something for everyone. In the ideas section, the charging park is not only designed to be functional for charging, parking and borrowing bicycles and e-bikes, but also as a versatile element for play and sport.

PARK – the area between the charging station and the neighbouring streets will be developed as a park landscape. It acts as a strong green framework and at the same time forms two direct connections to the surrounding landscape. Numerous opportunities for play and sport will be created in the park, including a 4-element path. Visitors of all ages can playfully explore the elements of ‘water, earth, fire and air’ here. A large circular path runs through the park and creates links to the surrounding area and the charging station.

Hessenhof’s outdoor catering will be integrated into the park. OASE – a rain garden is being created in the centre of the charging station – an oasis for people and nature. The oasis radiates a calming atmosphere and invites you to linger and relax. Various areas are modelled by terracing, which can be used as water troughs or permanent water areas. The troughs collect rainwater and retain it for evaporation and infiltration. Attached to the central service building, a large terrace is planned as the centrepiece of the oasis. This is directly connected to the discovery walkway in the rain garden and invites the curious on a tour of discovery through the oasis. The use of moisture-tolerant reeds and floodplain trees completes the image of an oasis.
