A new residential development on the main road, Gerresheimer Landstraße, is the ideal location for apartment homes for the upper middle class, especially appealing to young families, busy singles, and garden-lovers. It is built on the site of a former logistics center. An easy commute to the busy metropolis of Dusseldorf, this location is in the hilly farmland of the Bergisch area near the Unterbacher See recreational area. Residents will have convenient access to work and to sports and leisure activities such as boating, mini golf, fishing, hiking and a high ropes course.
A square at the southern entrance to the development provides an interface of shared public amenities, such as a day care center or a café, with the village of Unterbach. The strip-organized construction develops to the north as compatibly as possible with the immediate landscape.
The main connection for local residents is from Erkrather Straße. A public and economical road network slows internal traffic through the multiple-shifting, north-south connections. Traffic is also minimized by building underground parking, accessed at the end of each strip of buildings. No on- street parking is allowed; therefore, residential streets remain as usable open spaces and pedestrian-friendly connections to the surrounding fields.
