  • The Rhein-Neckar Traffic Corporation is planning to implement a new type of rail stop shelters in the city of Mannheim. The new design will provide a distinct identity and uniformity along the line, and will incorporate several improved attributes. The modular design of the basic cube easily expands to larger shelters for busier stops.

A reflective, high-quality, stainless steel-clad framework will incorporate one solid end panel, used for posting information, and plate glass panels on two additional sides for protection. The stainless steel modular roof cubes are lined in color, and are enclosed top and bottom with plate glass. Stop designations and route information is displayed via cutouts in the stainless steel surface, and are accentuated by the background colors.

The color incorporated into the roof cubes will provide a pleasant ambience due to natural light during the day and functional lighting at night. Come evening, a pleasant colored light will radiate into the night sky and around the shelter, making the shelter visible and identifiable from a distance.
