task:
The house of the present
tender:
SZ-magazine, Süddeutsche Zeitung
procedure type:
competition, 2001
size:
200 sqm
technical planner:
Dr. Alexander Hentschel (structural engineer)
This project was submitted for the invited competition “House of the Present” sponsored by the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper.
Though not yet constructed, the design is both soothing and futuristic. The living areas are underground, organized around a swimming pool. Natural light enters the house only through the water surface of the swimming pool. The water creates a staged, meditative atmosphere characterized by light reflections and the colors of incidental light.
